My Project

I teach a Sports Literature class where our goal is to go deeper into sports. We go beyond the box scores and connect social justice issues to that of the sports world. I am building a library of resources to use in this class.

This book list has a diverse set of sports-related texts that will assist students are they learn to see connections between the sports world and that of the real world.

These books such as, "The Black Migrant Athlete: Media, Race, and the Diaspora in Sports" and, "From Jack Johnson to LeBron James: Sports, Media, and the Color Line" will not just give students background knowledge but will also empower them to seek change and make a difference in the world around them.

Some of the other book titles include, "The 1936 Berlin Olympics: Race, Power, and Sportswashing", "Redskins?: Sport Mascots, Indian Nations and White Racism", and "Gender and Race in Sports."
