Help me give my students books that will help support their Social Emotional Learning (SEL). In this project, I have included the entire Little Spot Series that helps support feelings, behaviors, and character education.

My Students

I work with about 500 students as the K-4 school counselor. Our school is the only elementary school in our small close-knit suburban community. Students come from diverse socio-economic families. Many of them have had a difficult time during the pandemic and will need emotional support.

My Project

This project includes children's books on a variety of social and emotional topics, including impulse control, feelings, emotions, problem solving, gratitude, and communication. Children love reading and listening to books and this is a great way to empower them to help themselves. Each book introduces a different topic that is relevant to their emotional well being. I use books in all of my SEL lessons as well as in individual and group counseling each week. Children loves reading and listening to me read with them. I have created this list based on recommendations from other school counselors across the country.
