My Project

Teaching students social emotional lessons has become part of our daily routine. In my class, I like to use arts and crafts to encourage students to interact with one another. A project we have done every spring is paint stones. Each student chooses a stone.

While rolling the stone in their palms, we talk about our intentions and the power we have to choose and manifest the things we need.

It is not unusual to see students close their eyes and take a few deep breaths during this activity. It is incredible to see the normally squirmy teens at peace.

We then paint our stones to represent our needs and wants. Students are encouraged to keep the stone in there pocket or bedside table to remind them of their goals.
