My Fourth grade students are willing to try new activities and are excited at the possibilities of what they could learn. They strive to have a greater understanding in the world around them. These students have varied backgrounds, but their culture is what keeps them connected. The Native American culture is rich in the area where our school is located and is a vital part of learning.
In my classroom, we focus on being safe to make mistakes during learning, having integrity when interacting with others, and having a positive learning experience.
This allows them to feel safe while learning new topics and finding out how to be successful cooperatively and independently.
The enthusiasm shown in learning is evident through cooperative learning projects which vary between teacher and student developed topics.
My Project
Learning can be a challenge when the air quality in the room is causing sniffles and sneezing. With clean air, students will have an opportunity to stay healthy and be in school to learn. We will incorporate the air purifier into learning as well through graphing.
What an interesting math project it will be to track attendance to see if we have an increase in being present in school once we get the air purifier for our classroom.
The students will love incorporating healthy living into their math curriculum. This will encourage students to use real world problems in their math lessons and it may just teach them a healthy lesson.
