Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kids love when it is time for a Brain Break! Not only is this a time when their brains take a break from all of the learning in the classroom (in two languages), but it is also a time when the students get to fuel their bodies with a quick snack. In the last three years, our school has implemented three lunch periods to help with large groups in the cafeteria due to Covid. Our grade-level lunch got pushed up by 30 minutes from our usual time. Students are starving by the time lunch comes around. Kids love getting in line and having a snack to enjoy. But some students either forget their snacks or don't have any to bring from home.
I would love to have a Snack Box in the classroom that hosts snacks for those kids who forget their snacks or don't have the resources to bring one from home.
Since we are not allowed a refrigerator in our classroom, snacks like cheese, fruits, and vegetables are out of the question. But these snacks work as alternatives. I know the students will enjoy and be so appreciative and grateful for the snacks. Please help me bring popcorn, applesauce, fig bars, pretzels, and cheese crackers as snacks for these hungry fifth graders.
