Snacks & Masks for Kinders!

Help me give my students food in their stomach so they can focus on their reading, writing, and math. With your support, I can give my students a snack if they need one.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten class is full of fun and enthusiastic students. My students come from a low income neighborhood, and my school is a Title I school with 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students come to school to learn and have experiences they might not be able to have at home.

I want my classroom to be a fun and engaging place for all students.

My students thrive when they are engaged in their learning. Kindergarten is an exciting time. Students are learning to read, write, do math, as well as many other things. So many of my students come to school hungry each day. They also get hungry throughout the day. I would like to have a few snacks to keep on hand to give to my students so they aren't hungry throughout the day. Also, my students are either coming to school without a mask, wearing a dirty mask, or breaking their mask at some point during the day. I would like to have some extra masks in my classroom to give to my students who need them.

My Project

Focusing on reading, writing, and math is essential in any classroom. I find it is hard for students to focus when a student is fighting hunger. Hunger is one of the most common reasons students say they can't focus While I do my best to keep extra snacks on hand, I am giving my students snacks that I have purchased on a daily basis and it gets expensive. In addition, students often come to school without a mask, have a dirty mask, or break their mask at some point during the day. I am giving students new masks during the day as well. With your help, I can ease their hunger and keep our classroom safe from germs by having us all wear masks in our classroom.
