My Project

My students are an enigma, and I enjoy the challenge of figuring out the puzzle. We are a Title I school, and most of our students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds. They qualify for free or reduced-rate lunch. We are a racially diverse community. I have many first-generation English speakers. I have students each year who will be the first in their families to graduate high school.

This project is to replenish the snack box in our classroom.

Donors have been so generous in the past to help me supply snacks for my students. I want to always have a granola bar or a pack of crackers for a student who hasn't eaten when they get to school or when they get to my class, and with the help of generous donors, the financial burden of providing the snacks is not as heavy for me. The bags in the cart are to help store these snacks. So, I make sure there is always a snack available in my classroom. I don't care if they just came from lunch, or if they should have eaten what was offered for breakfast. If they need something on their stomach in order to learn better, I am happy to provide it.
