My Students

Health, in my opinion, is the most important class students will ever take! The curriculum empowers students with critical thinking, communication, and life skills that they will need to thrive and survive in a changing world.

I teach in a Central New York, rural, middle school which serves a wide range of socioeconomic levels.

I have the pleasure of teaching over 250 7th graders, many of whom receive free or reduced-price breakfast/lunch.

Despite all the challenges that come with this age group, these kids show up eager each day. I have taught at all levels but I have yet to find an age group that is more creative and enthusiastic than 7th grade. My students are special! They amaze and impress me every day, and for that reason, I request your support with this initiative.

My Project

We all know the importance of feeding the brain and body throughout the ENTIRE day with healthful foods.

Breakfast and lunch are provided at school however students who stay for afterschool activities often miss out on a much needed snack to sustain them.

I am looking to build an afterschool grab and go snack closet. These snacks will be key to support learning, focus and energy while limiting injury and illness. In the end, students will be provided with healthful options that range from gluten free to nut free snack options.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
