My Project

My 6th and 7th grade math students are brilliant, energetic, and deeply inquisitive. What I love most about them is their tenacity—middle school math introduces tricky, abstract concepts like algebra and proportions, yet they show up every day ready to tackle tough problems, debate strategies, and support one another. They are at a critical age where building confidence in math can change their entire academic trajectory.

To support their focus, organization, and daily learning, this project requests four key resources:

Snacks: Basic needs come first. Having snacks in the classroom ensures that hunger never becomes a barrier to focus, keeping their minds energized and ready to problem-solve through long math blocks.

Annotation Supplies (highlighters, sticky notes, pens): Math isn't just about calculating; it's about literacy. These tools will help students break down multi-step word problems, color-code algebraic steps, and annotate geometric diagrams directly on their work.

Headphones: Math software and digital learning programs allow students to work at their precise skill level. Headphones enable them to hear instructional videos, audio feedback, and step-by-step tutorials without distractions from the rest of the room.

Cleaning Supplies (disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer): A clean classroom is a healthy, safe space where students can focus on learning without frequent disruptions from seasonal illnesses or messy hands after group activities.

With your support, these resources will create a supportive, well-equipped environment where my middle schoolers feel cared for and fully prepared to master math.
