This year, the supplies we received from this donorschoose have already made it possible for the beginning of the year to run smoothly. I spent hours printing, laminating, and taping down subject folders for my entire class before the first day of school. I made our beautiful crayon themed bulletin board (picture to come soon!), all through our supplies of printer ink and class sets of folders. The snacks have proven useful for kids who miss breakfast in the morning, or who are hungry after lunch. \r\n Our hall passes are used every single day, the familiar clinking sound of the hard plastic of the hall pass an accidentally helpful sound to inform me and my other students when they've returned to the classroom. And of course, our pencil boxes we use for crayons every single day! From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me get our classroom up and running for this school year. I know that my students will be so excited to create, thrive, and learn this year in large part because of all the wonderful supplies YOU helped us provide.","fullyFundedDate":1750373379928,"projectUrl":"project/25-26-classroom-supplies/9315652/","projectTitle":"25-26 Classroom Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-anderson-in1st"},{"teacherId":9650708,"projectId":8633808,"letterContent":"The new materials, including the utility cart and mailbox, have transformed our classroom into a more organized and engaging space. The utility cart has become a vital resource during our science projects, where students can easily access all the necessary tools and supplies. As a teacher it can be overwhelming keeping track of all the different papers and materials we have to work with in a day. Having systems in place like a mailbox for exchanges between myself and students and being able to organize my materials by content and then by day help me to keep things organized and keep students accountable for their own materials. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the utility cart and mailbox, the reaction was electric. Their eyes widened in surprise, and they rushed over to explore. The mailbox quickly became a favorite spot for students to drop off notes to each other, sharing positive messages and ideas. This small addition has encouraged a sense of community and communication among them. Additionally, having snacks readily available has helped students who might feel overwhelmed during the school day. Many have expressed gratitude for the opportunity to grab a quick bite when they need a pick-me-up, helping them regain focus and motivation to continue their learning. Your generous contributions have made a significant difference in their classroom experience!","fullyFundedDate":1725383771746,"projectUrl":"project/protect-our-peace/8633808/","projectTitle":"Protect Our Peace","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Zhane'","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9650708"},{"teacherId":9650708,"projectId":8844911,"letterContent":"Having books in our classroom with ten autistic children has really made a positive difference. I've noticed that the stories we read spark their interest and imagination, allowing them to learn and understand different perspectives. For many of them, reading is like embarking on an exciting adventure that boosts their empathy and social skills.\r\n\r\nWhen we add snacks into the mix, things get even better! Sharing snacks turns into a fun time for everyone. I love watching the kids chat, laugh, and connect with one another. It creates a cozy atmosphere that makes them feel more at home, and I've seen how many children find comfort in the routine of snack time.\r\n\r\nTogether, books and snacks help us build a friendly and welcoming environment where the kids feel free to express themselves and form friendships. The boxes arrived and are currently cluttering my classroom as I assemble them and get them ready for next year. My current students were told about the project, and they were a bit jealous, but very happy that my new students would be getting the supplies they need. These new resources will be used to help my students reinforce their school learning at home in the 2025-26 school year. As I assemble the kits, my plan is to make them all, then have them stored in my closet until my incoming students arrive in the fall. But, have no fear, my current students are beyond grateful for the support of their classroom, and were happy that we would get an opportunity to say thank you in the coming weeks. I will be sure to upload a picture of an assembled kit with all materials as soon as possible. But I wanted to share my gratitude now, with you. Every Wednesday and Friday we have skills review through games. The students are always enthusiastic and full of energy when they are asked to choose their reading games for their groups. The sportsmanship as well as the encouragement they provide to each other is a great example to community.\r\n\r\nStudents were very excited to see how each games was to be played and to learn the rules of each game. They variety of games gave them new ways to explore such skills as context clues and figurative language . At times my classroom may sound a little loud but its just the excitement of having the right answer as they buy item or use parachutes to score points.\r\n\r\nIn the upcoming months students will take the PSSA, It is my hope that by playing these reading games students will master reading skills in a way that they can use to apply to reading longer passages of text. The crayons alone have been an essential and everyday use for my kids. We have been learning about many things this year in Kindergarten. In ELA, our first unit was all about sharing toys and talking about what it means for students to share and work together. We use our whiteboards daily for our phonics lessons, as well as for our small groups. We've been learning the alphabet together, and using the boards to write their letters gives my kinders some much needed practice with writing.
