Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our class was closed in March, but since then I have continued to have open communication with parents and students. A couple of my students think of this as a vacation with a in-home learning, but most wake up and still do their normal school day routine and wait for the school bus. It breaks my heart to hear and see these images when parents send them to me.

We are doing distance learning through the use of a digital classroom to post videos and activities, and we hold video calls to work on iep goals.

At this moment, the parents that had a smart device were able to choose to use that, and parents that needed or requested a tablet for distance learning were able to get a school device. Some have a pencil, others have a notebook but none actually have a complete set of school supplies at hand while doing distance learning.

My Project

During distance learning, I would love for my students to have snacks to be able to participate in snack time with their school family. Some of the parents that I have, aren’t working so I would like to be able to help out as much as I can by giving snacks to my students.

In class we would have snack time and during distance learning we will continue to have meetings with each other to have a meal together as the school family that we are.

With your donations, my students will have cookies, juice, water, and chips. I have included 3 blankets which I will deliver to students who need extra warmth during this time.
