Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I'm requesting snacks for my students, along with sanitary supplies for my female students. The district I teach in is low-income, and all students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch. Unfortunately, many students don't make it in time for breakfast and are hungry all day.

In order to learn, students' basic needs must be met.

I keep a snack drawer at school and stock it regularly. Students know that it is a resource available to them at any time, and I often find students sidling into my room after school to take a few snacks home.

Many of my students have precarious home lives, with some being homeless and others with families who live in a single room. School is often the one place where they can consistently rely on being fed. Thank you for helping me ensure that no child goes hungry!
