Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students play an active role within the classroom. They are creative, attentive, and critical thinkers. Students in active classrooms learn more when their needs are met. As a teacher, I want to be able to provide my students with the basic needs so they can continue to thrive in their academics.

My Project

Every teacher knows that meeting the needs of all students is important. One of the top basic needs is food and water. Before learning can take place, students’ basic needs must be met. When students' basic needs are met, they are able to thrive in their academics. By giving students snacks such as cereal, Nutri-Grain bars, Gatorade, and so forth, students are supported to a healthy lifestyle. As their teacher, I want to be able to provide these essential needs for my students. We are classified as a Title I school, therefore students are living near or at poverty levels. In identifying the student's needs, in this case, good nutrition, students develop healthy eating habits.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
