My Project

Many of my students have needs. Their families try, but sometimes fall short through no fault of their own. Many have multiple jobs, or loss of work, or broken homes, some living with multiple families to make ends "sort of" meet. The kids look to the school that they go to every day to feel loved, warm, full, and cared for.

Our kids need more than just learning from books, they need food and some basic self care items.

We, teachers, try to provide as much as we can, but with our 25 plus students, and our own families, we don't always have enough to reach all of our students' needs all of the time.

These seem like simple things, but this is what make our kids feel like they belong and are loved. Not all kids have a daily snack, they try to save some of their free lunch so no one notices, but they are hungry.

My kids worry about being the "smelly" kid. My kids do their best, but don't always have extra money to buy deodorant, toothpaste, or toothbrushes. They wash in the sink at school or try to hide the stink in other ways. They just need some basic supplies.
