My Students

Teaching at a small school is teaching family. There are approximately 250 members of my family here in our tiny, but mighty, school. The students love each other in the way that only students who have known each other their entire lives can. Similarly, they fight and bicker as only students that are intimately connected can.

Diverse, creative, thoughtful, intelligent, funny, and kind students roam these halls every day.

When we gather in the classroom together, magic happens. When walking the halls of our school, you will see students lingering in hallways working on a project, small classes engaged in project-based learning, and teachers advocating for a growth mindset. We are a small group of learners, but we desire big things.

My Project

Our small school journalism program is working hard to use whatever resources we have available to produce interesting news and content for our online newspaper, The Nest. We are asking for a green screen kit and lighting to begin some video news content that will engage and entertain our audience.

It is our greatest desire to have the Brentwood community look to our journalism department for vital information.

We want to produce news utilizing current resources and in the most imaginative ways possible.

From stories about the 2020 election to student spotlight stories to hard-hitting opinion articles about gender-neutral restrooms, we want to produce news that matters. With appropriate resources, students in all subject areas can creatively produce newsworthy material.
