Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the most amazing, funny, hard-working, sweet, and talented group of 7 and 8 year olds you will ever meet. They walk into my classroom every morning knowing they are safe and loved. Only a few of my students are reading on grade level, I have several at a kindergarten level.

The school I teach at is a Title One, the majority of the families that live in the boundary are within the lower spectrum of social economics.

I want my 27 students to have the same learning opportunities that other students have, even if their parents cannot contribute supplies to the class.

I make my classroom a place where my students can come and feel safe to be themselves. They deal with a lot of things at home, so I make it a point that they should "just be a kid" in my classroom. They need to be able to explore the world by learning and inquiring about it. They need to foster their own learning.

My Project

Most of these items are intended to be used in small group reading intervention while the other items will be used to aid in instruction around the classroom.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of my students are not reading on grade level, and I am in need of more materials that I can use to help fill in the gaps.

With the use of these materials, students of different learning styles may be able to benefit better than with what I have available to me in the classroom.

Some of the other classroom materials such as the clipboards and anchor chart paper, are to replace what I have bene using for years. The anchor chart paper will be used around the room to provide scaffolds and help on certain skills and the clipboards will allow my students to complete their work around the room.
