Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come into the art room full of ideas and creativity, but many of them need structure, durability, and consistent access to materials in order to fully engage in the learning process. Art is hands on, messy, and iterative, and students learn best when they have tools that can grow with them throughout the year.

With a classroom laminator, my students will be able to design and assemble their own sketchbooks.

These sketchbooks become a daily learning tool where students plan projects, practice skills, reflect on their work, and take creative risks. Creating their own sketchbooks gives students ownership over their learning while the laminated covers ensure their work lasts all year, even with daily use.

These sketchbooks support drawing practice, visual problem solving, written reflection, and critique. Students return to them again and again to revise ideas, track progress, and build confidence in their artistic abilities. Having a durable sketchbook allows students to focus on learning rather than worrying about materials falling apart.

In addition to creative tools, a safe and organized classroom is essential for student learning. A lockable file cabinet allows me and any substitute teacher to securely store and access required student support documents so accommodations can be implemented consistently during art instruction. This ensures all students can participate safely and equitably, especially in a hands on environment.

The shredder supports proper disposal of outdated confidential materials, helping protect student privacy and maintain a safe learning space built on trust and responsibility.

Together, these resources create a classroom environment where students feel supported, respected, and empowered to learn. By combining creative tools with systems that protect student safety and access, this project helps my students focus on what matters most: learning, creating, and growing as artists.
