Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

In Atlanta public schools, the funding for music educators is very low. Many of my students do not have access to a computer/Internet network. Hence, they are not exposed to a lot of different applications that Apple or other electronic devices have to offer. Moreover, the lack thereof is evident.

My students are hardworking, talented, energetic and uphold a zest for success.

It is evident that they have established a common goal to graduate from middle school while earning a high grade point average. They love to take on challenges that incorporate learning. They are committed to their classes and music program. Due to poverty and adverse situations, many of them are put at a disadvantage simply because of the family's income level. They constantly find innovative ways to succeed in their academics. Each child strives to become the best student/musician that he can be. My students take time to learn from their past mistakes while encouraging others to avoid going down the wrong path. My students cry, laugh, and share their life struggles while singing and performing on stage. Utilizing their musical gifts are a joy for them. They perform at concerts, convocations, and community homes. Inspiring others to believe that success is a stepping stone rings from their voices.

My Project

My students in the choral program will have an opportunity to be exposed to high quality technology. They will receive one on one instructional time with music apps from Apple to assist them in music education. Technology remains to be one of the lead components for educators, because it affords the learning process many fun innovative ways of teaching the students concepts. Often, students become bored because the strategy that is presented via lesson plan does not bring excitement or curiosity to the learner. That is when a new venue should be executed to maintain a high level of concentration and interest within the classroom. Education should be fun and thought provoking while producing growth in students' learning. I am certain that my students will continue to strive for academic excellence while encouraging choral music. Above all, they will have a greater appreciation of community leaders that support less fortunate schools.

I firmly believe that my project is very important because my students deserve to be exposed to high quality technology, while learning in an enjoyable environment.

This project is very important because of the lack of support that students receive in their households. Changing a child's life doesn't entail verbal communication only; we must demonstrate that we care for them and their education. When we invest in our children, we remind them that we are investing in our leaders of tomorrow.
