My Students

I have the benefit of working with a group of caring, hard working, supportive, and industrious 7th and 8th grade students. In my school most of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch and do not have access to technology at home. They do not hesitate to support each other whenever they can.

My students constantly strive to be better.

Better students, better members of the community, and better examples for the younger students who look up to them.

My Project

As a grade, we are working on creating good habits. One of the habits includes being able to show and explain your work. There is still resistance to putting work on paper out of a fear of being incorrect. We have a limited number of dry erase boards in the classroom and, when given the choice, they will always pick a whiteboard over scratch paper and will not complain about transcribing the work from the whiteboard to their paper.

They are considerably less afraid of being "wrong" if their mistakes don't feel permanent.

My students tend to take more risks, show more work, and write more in general when they have access to dry erase boards.
