Most of my students had never taken notes in class. When we started the year, our "note taking" involved copying down anything I wrote in my notebook. As the year progressed, they've learned to write down anything that may have led them to an "a-ha" moment. Having these mailbox organizers will provide an easily accessible location where they can store their math notebooks, binders, and supplies. I encourage my students to be prepared for learning opportunities at any time. If we are working on a project and a classmate explains a concept in a manner that provides clarity - write it down. If you are solving an equation and you need step by step instructions - write them down. A secure yet accessible centralized location within the classroom will encourage the personal level of responsibility they need to be successful in and out of the classroom
