Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am fortunate this year to have 27 5th graders in my class this year. My students come from diverse backgrounds, many of whom are low income. I want to be provide my students with a positive learning environment.
My students are creative, inquisitive, and eager to learn.
I want to be able to provide a classroom that is inviting and fosters their enthusiasm for learning. I would like to provide more alternative seating and learning options so that I can meet the needs of all of my students.
This is truly a wonderful class and I am excited to have the opportunity to teach them this year.
My Project
In 5th grade class, my students are starting to set goals for themselves and what they hope to accomplish by the time they leave me. With the use of the labels, sheet protectors and binders, we are able to set goals and track their progress towards their goals. This will allow the students to take more ownership in their work and in their learning, which will also allow me to keep track of their progress as well. The laminating sheets will help them keep mementos of all that we are doing in 5th grade.
With these materials, my students will be able to showcase work that they are proud of, and learn how to monitor their own learning.
My students have already started to set goals for themselves, but I want them to be able to become more independent and learn how to track their own learning. This will help prepare them when they go onto middle school and high school.
