My students struggle with finding books that interest them and then reading books to completion. Having more reading options will help my students with reading logs and book reports. Having access to high interest books will help my students build their vocabulary and fluency. In my classroom, we spend time silent reading every day. This is the time that many students look forward to. Reading is essential in life and students in 5th and 6th grade are starting to venture more into technology and less into the pages of a good book, but I want them to continue a love of reading for the future with this new collection of high interest books.
