Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students will engage in a high quality science reading project with a classroom set of The Martian, aligned to NGSS 6th Grade Science standards and use headphones to improve digital reading opportunities throughout the school year.

Making connections between science and reading is a critical classroom goal and aligned with our school wide goal to increase reading proficiency.

6th grade is an important year to make strides in reading proficiency especially in core subject areas. Providing high quality reading opportunities and resources including partner reading, audio science texts, and science based literature all broaden and deepen the reading opportunities in our science classroom with the goal of increasing science literacy.
