Shine A Light on Education

Help me give my students color-changing, rope lighting that is more comfortable and less eye-straining than the fluorescent lights that are in my classroom. This will provide them with a more suitable learning environment.

My Students

My students are wonderful children who need specialized instruction due to educational disabilities. They thrive on routine and enjoy coming to school every day. They are great helpers in the classroom to adults and peers alike.

My students come mainly from single-parent households and some are even in the foster care system.

They also come from low socioeconomic neighborhoods where resources are scarce.

My Project

My students all have educational disabilities and the bright fluorescent lights cause distractions and headaches while they are trying to learn in my classroom environment. These students already have difficulty maintaining focus in the classroom and completing assignments; the lights compound this issue.

A calm, relaxing environment is proven to benefit young scholars of all abilities.

These lights will provide a stepping stone toward a more engaged classroom of students. Having more engaged students in my classroom will help students implement the skills being learned in a variety of environments.
