This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This educational kit is a wonderful resource that is STR or science of teaching reading based. The Secret Stories system provides the students with pictures that link word parts and sounds to a story that helps them to better remember them. In kindergarten and first grade, students will learn so many different word parts and letter teams that they need to remember such as vowel digraphs, consonant digraphs, r- controlled vowels, and many more. This can be overwhelming if it is taught on it's own without any help from visual and auditory scaffolds.

The goal of this project is to purchase a resource that I can implement in my phonics curriculum and small group time while teaching tricky word patterns to better help my students to learn and remember the "tricky" sounds that letters can make.

This resource would help not only the students that I currently have in my classroom but also all the future students that will come through my kindergarten class. It will help me to set them up for success in both their reading and writing. It will also create visual and auditory scaffolds that are much needed for struggling learners to work towards their reading goals by having a little extra help when learning to read.
