My students walk into our classroom every day with smiles, ready to learn, and excited for the day. They are always asking questions, digging for information and have a thirst for knowledge and learning.
I am a teacher at a elementary school in Massachusetts and 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students and families have many struggles at home. I often spend my own family's money to provide materials, learning tools and school essentials for my students. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
My Project
Providing my students with a new kidney shaped reading table will allow for a more interactive Guided Reading group and promote a closer knit reading group which I will be more able to reach each student, support them and conference without an awkward table layout. The new sight word readers will provide my students with a variety of fiction and nonfiction text that they can see the words they’re learning in real text and sentences outside of our classroom examples. The wall Pops and dry erase markers will be a great learning tool for my students to carryover sight word learning and recognition, as well as, expand their vocabulary and sentence writing.
