Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The start of the school year can be really stressful thinking about all the materials and things needed to help set students up for success for the rest of the year.

These various items will help ensure that students have what they need to be successful and attentive during the school day and year.

You never know how the school day goes and to limit trips to the nurse for minor issues I would like to have Band-Aids and reusable ice packs (that would be kept in zip lock bags for sanitary purposes) to give to students. This way students can stay in the classroom and not miss learning for anything minor.

At the beginning of the school year, I love to do a STEAM community building activity where students have to "save" a gummy worm named Fred by putting a gummy life saver around it on top of a plastic cup. This is always a crowd pleaser and one of their favorite activities that students say they did during the year.

Some of the most used items in my classroom are glue sticks and Clorox wipes (especially during cold and flu season). We glue down guided notes for students to follow along during lessons to help keep their notes neat and organized. At the end of every day, I have students wipe down their desks and other commonly used surfaces to help stop the spreading of germs as well as helping to keep our classroom clean.
