Help me give my students speech buddies for R, which will significantly improve success with the most difficult R sound. Also, help me give them storytelling supplies to improve the structure of their expressive language.
As a Speech Language Pathologist serving grades K-5, my students come to me with varied areas of delay. They trust me with the important task of assisting them to improve their speech, communication and expressive and receptive language skills. Their language impairments impact not only their academic functioning, but the equally important areas of social and emotional competence. My students inspire me with their determination and positive attitudes while facing challenges at such a young age. My greatest joy is that my students look forward to time spent in my classroom, and I continually strive to make their speech experience a bright part of their day.
My Project
I am seeking multi sensory supplies to help my students with their speech sound production and verbal expression skills.
Speech buddies tools have been shown to help students learn how to produce the R sound approximately 5 times faster than traditional therapy, which relies on the child's ability to follow verbal and visual commands.
The R sound is the most difficult sound to teach because it involves doing many steps at the same time. This tool would help my students move to the next level in therapy and quickly improve their communication.
Also, many of my students struggle with verbal expression and have a difficult time conveying their thoughts in an organized way. Creating and retelling stories is an effective and functional way of improving the structure of verbal language. The supplies I am seeking provide meaningful ways of acquiring that skill.
