My Students

Our school is comprised of over 1,600 students from various backgrounds. We are a growing community that works to provide our students and children with the best education possible. Currently, I teach 6th- 8 grade Reading and Language Arts in a co-teach environment. My students have an increased academic need since I serve students who have dyslexia, dysgraphia, autism, and students who are English language learners. These students are energetic, compassionate, helpful, and hard-working. With the right tools, they will be able to surpass goals that are set for them and goals that they set for themselves.

My Project

My students need sensory toys/ tools to help them focus in class. Because I serve a high special education population, I need sensory tools to help my students to focus and participate in class. Sensory toys/ tools have been proven to promote participation and concentration, to relieve stress, and to keep busy bodies relaxed. Because of the positive effects, students are able to do better in class and score higher grades.

Because of Hurricane Harvey, many of our students had to temporarily or permanently relocate.

These materials will help to provide students with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.
