My Project

I love how each of my students brings their own unique personality, strengths, and way of experiencing the world to our classroom. My 10 students with disabilities range from kindergarten through 5th grade, and I am constantly inspired by their curiosity, resilience, creativity, and determination. They each have different needs, but they all deserve a classroom where they feel safe, comfortable, valued, and ready to learn.

The resources that I am requesting will create a safe, calming, and inclusive learning environment where every student can feel supported, regulated, and ready to learn.

The weighted pillows will provide calming sensory input to help students who become overwhelmed, anxious, or need additional support with self-regulation. Music items will give students opportunities to use rhythm and sound for movement, communication, engagement, and sensory regulation. The fold-out lounge chairs will provide comfortable, flexible seating where students can take a sensory break, read, participate in small-group activities, or simply reset when they need to. These resources will help create a welcoming, sensory-friendly environment where my students can regulate their bodies and emotions so they can focus, participate, and learn.

Most importantly, these resources will help me meet my students where they are and give each child the tools they need to be successful. When students feel comfortable and supported, they are better able to engage with their peers, participate in classroom activities, and enjoy the learning process.
