Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every single day, I walk into my classroom and am greeted by the brightest, most resilient little souls I have ever known. My students come from communities that face extraordinary challenges, and yet they show up every morning with open hearts, wide eyes, and an incredible will to learn. While I teach general education, I have many special needs students with IEP's and 504's in my classroom each and every day.

These children carry big emotions in small bodies, and they face obstacles outside of our classroom walls that no child should ever have to face.

I love their curiosity, their laughter, and their pure desire to connect with the world around them. They are warriors in the truest sense of the word, and they deserve every resource and every opportunity we can possibly give them. Children who feel safe and regulated are children who can learn. When a child is overwhelmed, anxious, or struggling to manage their emotions, it becomes nearly impossible for them to focus, engage, or absorb new information. That is where sensory and fidget tools become absolute game changers in an early childhood classroom.

These resources will give my students something to reach for when the world feels like too much. A fidget in their hands can calm a racing heart, a calming corner tent and carpet will help to provide a place to go when emotions get too big. These tools teach self-regulation in a way that is natural, playful, and developmentally appropriate for young children. I have also requested communication cards as not every child in my class is verbal. Each child in my classroom deserves a safe space to feel, heal, and grow. Your donation will help me build that space and give these beautiful children exactly what they need to succeed.
