This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are in a self-contained Autism classroom. They range from 2nd grade to 5th grade. Academically their abilities range considerably, but one thing they all have in common is a need for sensory materials to support their learning. My students love using a weighted lap pad when they work, however I only have access to one and it is borrowed. I am requesting several different weighted stuffed animals and cuddle balls to help them stay seated and focus on their assignments. A number of my students lack fine motor skills and need ways to help them practice daily living skills such as zipping and buttoning clothing and tying shoes. I am requesting busy boards that will allow them to practice these skills.
