Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have a group of kids with a lot of energy. I know that if I can create spaces for their sensory needs, I will see much calmer behaviors that will result in a more productive learning environment. I teach an Autism core class and am faced with sensory needs that cannot be met because of a lack of resources.

My students come from low-income neighborhoods, and school might be the only space they have to meet their sensory needs.

The iPad will be used to access sensory apps. The water table will be used for sand and water time. The other sensory toys will be used in a sensory center or calm down center.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
