My Students

Our school mission is to build positive relationships to create a safe environment where all are challenged and empowered to reach their highest potential. My group of Innovation and Design (8th grade) students are all in when wanting to design a sensory room for the growing number of students who need a safe least restrictive environment. My group of 8th grade students are exceptionally caring individuals who want to make a safe environment for all who attend our community. They also have a passion for inventing things.

My Project

For the student in need of a safe least restrictive environment such as a sensory room, it can make all the difference for a quick recovery. Less instruction time is compromised for that student. Going to a room to relax or to promote interaction allows the student to promote self-organization and positive emotional or physical adjustment.

Temporarily removing the disturbed student from the room, allows the rest of the class to refocus to a safe place to allow learning to continue.

The student with sensory and emotional needs can regroup without disturbing classroom instruction or without having to leave campus. The supplies on this wish list will help supply the sensory room with tools that to promote relaxation and positive emotional/physical adjustment.
