Sensory Experiences Through a Creative Approach

My Students

I teach students that are in grades junior kindergarten through 4th grade with a variety of intellectual and sensory impairments in our local elementary school. My class services students from two neighboring districts and our own as part of a co-op program. My students love to play outside, participate in sensory activities, and sing in music.

My Project

Teaching concepts through sensory and creative art experiences is beneficial for all students. Having a variety of sensory tools such as the kinetic sand, fidgets, etc will not only allow my students to have access to their sensory needs but have opportunities to express their creativity through building. In my class, we do some type of art project (sometimes two) every day. The art supplies would be used to allow students the opportunity to express themselves creatively. My students will also have multiple opportunities to explore different artistic tools such as paint, brushes, paint dot markers, etc.

By donating to our project, you will not only help students gain opportunities to explore art and express their creativity, but you will also help them increase their access to sensory tools to improve academic success.

Students will be able to focus and learn concepts through creative sensory experiences.
