With your help I was able to add some ladybug and insect resources to my classroom. My students loved exploring the new items. It was fun watching them explore the bug specimens. Some asked me if they were dead or how the bugs died while exploring them. I assured them that the bugs couldn't come out of the resin and that the bugs were dead. Since they are sealed inside the resin we can touch them and look at them without being scared of the bugs. \r\n\r\nNorthern Michigan was hit with a spring time blizzard. Since the ground is covered in snow and the daily temperature has been below 50, we have to wait a few weeks to get our ladybugs. We read about the ladybug life cycle earlier this month. I'm excited to watch my students observe the ladybug life cycle later this spring. We're hopeful that our school garden will be free of snow by late May so we can release our ladybugs there. \r\n\r\nThanks again for your support and for helping me add these resources to the classroom. They are also designed for preschoolers and will last for many years expect for the toothbrushes. \r\n\r\nMy students and our community play group that meets monthly in my classroom enjoyed playing with the penguins and ice blocks in the sensory table. The dinosaur toys are still on the shelf because my students love playing with them and building different kinds of dinosaurs. They loved stamping the dinosaurs and creating their own dinosaur scene too. \r\n\r\nThe toothbrushes that I originally ordered with this grant were not available. I was able to find another option for the toothbrushes. They were cheaper than the original set so I was also able to get a salad play set for the kitchen. These magazines are very engaging and the simple, predictive sequence in the magazine is helping my preschoolers learn concepts of print such as tracking left to right.\r\n\r\nScholastic uses topics that are typical themes for preschoolers. Some things we have read about so far include apples, fire safety and pumpkins. We get 2 magazines each month to explore. My students like to complete the tasks on the back of the magazine such as connect the dots, color a picture or match pictures. \r\n\r\nIncluded with this magazine subscription is an online platform for teachers and parents. Scholastic has short video clips to help teach vocabulary concepts. One video we watched at whole group time was a video about how pumpkins grow. It showed a time lapse view of a pumpkin growing. \r\nThank you once again for helping me to get this wonderful resources for my classroom. Scarves are something that I love to use to practice throwing and catching since they don't hurt if the catch isn't made. Flying scarves are also a fun sensory activity for my students. \r\n\r\nWe use the egg shakers during music time. They are a great beginning instrument to practice playing a beat. I'm sure my students also benefit from the reduced fluorescent lighting too. Thank you for helping to improve our health! \r\n\r\nI change the covers with each season change. Some students notice right away and ask why the trees are different. It's a great opportunity to talk about the change of seasons. It is also helpful since the season change from winter to spring happens later than when spring officially begins. The flowering trees is fun to see when it is snowy outside. \r\n\r\nI also got a lamp for our carpet time area. The lamp has a step button to turn it on and off. Because of your generosity, our 4th graders now have a dedicated space equipped with a cozy beanbag, sensory tools, visual aids, and calming, soft warm lights that help students who feel overwhelmed or need a moment to self-regulate. Almost immediately after the materials arrived, I noticed students instinctively gravitating toward the corner when they felt frustrated, anxious, or simply \"too busy\" and had too much on their plate to learn.\r\n\r\nOne student who has struggled all year with big emotions told me, \"This spot actually helps me breathe and think before I get mad.\" These peaceful moments allow us to return to learning stronger and more focused, which was exactly what I hoped this space would accomplish. \r\n\r\nYour support didn't just provide equipment, it created opportunities for deeper emotional growth and self-awareness. The calming corner has become a trusted tool in our classroom routine, enabling more students to identify feelings and choose healthy strategies to settle themselves. Looking ahead, we're planning to integrate emotion-regulation check-ins and mindfulness activities into our daily schedule so students can build lasting social-emotional skills that support both academic success and personal well-being. \r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for your contribution and for believing in our students.
