My Project

I am a fourth-grade teacher of a classroom with 23 amazing, incredibly loving students who are always excited to learn and grow, mentally and academically.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve their academic achievement, but you will also give them what they need to increase their attention, focus, and self-growth.

My students come from a low-income, high-poverty school district in West Virginia. Students in our areas suffer from a lack of resources that many school districts would see as "typical". Our families cannot always provide their children with the resources needed to support their academic and/or mental health.

Many of our students have experienced great trauma, hardships, and setbacks. Despite the great diversity of needs and physical/mental disabilities, they continue to strive for self-growth and improvement.

As we go about our journey of managing our behaviors when we are overwhelmed, over-stressed, or just sad, we have found that releasing our emotions safely is not only good for ourselves but those around us. To improve our learning environment, we are asking for fluorescent light covers to help keep out the harshness of our lights. We have found that stress balls with water beads work the best for us, and it would be great if every student could have one!

I feel so privileged to be a part of their learning journey, and together we persevere to reach our best potential.
