Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Since I started teaching through now, I have always taught inclusion. This means that I have SpEd and GenEd students in my class. Due to the diversity of our room, it is common for students to become dysregulated.

Creating a Zen Zone for my classroom is always a high priority.

This area has sensory items that I teach students to use appropriately to learn self-regulation strategies and keep our class calm, cool, and collected.

All of the items on this wishlist support the needs of diverse learners by helping with their sensory needs. The reading phones and reading guides help students focus on their reading when others are being loud due to dysregulation. The sensory tent, headphones, and other items help students to have a safe and private space to regulate.

The drum pad will support a student who regularly plays with his pencils and makes verbal drumming sounds so that he can eliminate the verbal/internal noise, express those sounds quietly externally, and hear the lessons at the same time.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
