It was such a joyful moment, and it wouldn't have happened without you.\r\n\r\nSince then, we've been using the play dough in all kinds of ways. In math to build shapes and practice counting, in science to model things like animal habitats, and of course, during free play where their imaginations really shine. It's been amazing to see them so engaged and hands-on in their learning.\r\n\r\nYou also helped us restock some classroom basics that we were running low on, like glue sticks (which we seem to go through faster than anything!) and snacks for our prize box. Those little rewards go a long way in keeping the kids motivated and feeling proud of their hard work.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're working on a project about habitats, and the students are using play dough to create animals and the environments they live in. It's been a fun and creative way to show what they've learned. \r\n\r\nI just want you to know how much your support has meant to us. Watching them collaborate and engineer solutions with such enthusiasm has been an incredible experience.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're continuing our science unit and are planning to test our earthquake-resistant structures soon. My students were extremely happy when we went through the boxes like it was Christmas morning. You don't know how much joy and motivation it brought to my 3rd graders. The pencil boxes were a welcome addition to organize all of their crayons, markers, colored pencils, scissors, glue sticks, and so much more. We have not had a new stapler or new tape dispenser for years and they loved that the stapler was red and just plain black. The magnets are used to hold their headphones and are very strong sticking to the sides of their desks. The half notebooks are used daily as they reflect on their day and normally they each go through 2-3 per year. \r\nMy students come from a low income area and to get things new versus hand-me-downs was a new experience for so many of them. Replacing our worn out materials with brand new whiteboards helps my class readily engage in visible, collaborative thinking while tackling challenging tasks in small groups huddled around these vertical workspaces. The ability to easily move the whiteboards fosters a fluid classroom layout, encouraging spontaneous collaboration and peer-to-peer learning. As I circulate, I can quickly glance at the diverse approaches students are taking, identify areas of struggle or brilliance, and provide targeted support without disrupting the flow of their collective problem-solving. This shift has empowered students to take greater ownership of their learning, fostering deeper conceptual understanding and a more vibrant intellectual atmosphere.\r\n\r\nMy students and I are actively integrating these whiteboards into our learning routines. For instance, during our current unit on engineering, the students selected a common classroom object, determined whether it was an example of a technology or not and identified problems that it solves.
