My Students

My kindergarten students are eager lovers of learning. I have a very active class that enjoy hands-on activities that engage their senses. I love kindergartners because they are like little sponges; they soak everything up and it is so exciting to see those light bulbs go off as they discover how to read or add. My class is social and enjoys projects and activities where they can work together to solve a problem.

COVID-19 has had a huge impact on education: some things good and some things not so good.

Due to COVID, some of my students missed out on a formal preschool program and came to me with little to no school experience. It has been a huge adjustment for them to learn some of the basic things like how to sit on the rug, or raise their hand if they have something to say. In order to help build endurance and excitement in school, it has presented me as the educator with an interesting challenge to ensure that my lessons engage their senses in order to keep them focused and excited about learning.

My Project

The resources I requested will help stimulate students to grow in their social skills as they work together to learn important literacy skills and discover new things through the world of STEM.

Kindergarten plays a crucial role in laying the foundation for the rest of a student's educational journey, especially in literacy development.

With the LETRS training we are receiving this year, these materials will allow me to create centers where students can practice important skills that will help them be successful readers.

STEM also creates a unique opportunity for students to understand the world around them, as well as to collaborate with others to reach a common goal. The STEM materials I requested will help students solve problems and stimulate their brains to think deeply.
