Sensational Sensory Soothers

My students need sensory items for various reasons. The pressure vest and pea pod will help to calm some students. Fidgets allow students to focus on classroom and social/emotional demands.

My Students

My students are members of diverse neuro-tribes who need intense levels of special education. The students range in age from kindergarten through 5th grade. My students' developmental stages tend to come at later times than their neurotypical peers.

My children are excited to learn and continually look to us, their support system, to help them achieve.

Their curriculum needs are unique. Most of the curriculums are inventions of our special education team and require ongoing modifications to match our students' ways of learning and unique abilities.

My Project

The pea pod and pressure vest provide a steady and soothing stimulation to the body and will be used to help keep some of my students from becoming overly anxious. Without these tools, it is more difficult for the student to avoid elevated behaviors which remove the student's focus from school environments and lead to negative attention seeking to help calm their agitated states of mind.

The fidget toys such as balls and necklaces allow the students' bodies to interact with a steady, predictable, and benign stimulus so that they can focus their minds on the social and educational environments at-hand.
