Help me give my students a sensory corner that soothes all the senses with comfort lighting and seating. A place to relax when students are feeling big emotions or they just need a quiet calm space.

My Project

We all have those days and moments when life comes our way and throws us into emotional turmoil. Coping strategies are imperative during these moments. Navigating these difficult moments can be challenging for everyone, especially for students with diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, dyslexia, and others with brain functions that process information differently. Students need a place where they can go to help them deal with the big emotions.

I will create a sensory space that provides students with a place where they can use various tools to activate all of the senses.

Students can implement coping strategies while stimulating the senses with lights, weighted and scented stuffed animals, flexible seating, and fidgets that stimulate touch. I hope my sensory corner will be a calming place of peace or joy.
