The sensory corner gives my students a safe, calming place to read, relax, and explore sensory items, including a weighted stuffed animal. When the area was ready, students were excited to try the sensory items and flexible seating. One student especially enjoys working on assignments while sitting on the big bean bag, while others use the materials during breaks when they feel overwhelmed.\r\n\r\nThese resources support students' learning by giving them a quiet place to regroup and return to classroom activities. They have also helped me create a welcoming space where students can take a break and feel ready to learn. Although our classroom is too small to expand the corner, I am offering it to students from other classes who may benefit from a quiet place to unwind. \r\n\r\nSpecial thanks to Roxie Cash for making the first generous donation, and to Exponential Scholars for stepping in when donations stalled. The incentives you provided have given my students something exciting to work toward while reminding them that their effort matters.\r\n\r\nI have seen firsthand how these rewards can motivate students to participate, complete challenging assignments, improve their behavior, and push themselves toward their academic goals. Whether they are excited about choosing a fun pen, sensory item, candy, Rubik's cube, or earning a special classroom treat, the biggest reward has been watching their confidence and determination grow. When one student earns a trip to the prize chest, the excitement spreads throughout the classroom and encourages others to work toward their own goals.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this project has helped my students understand that success is not always about being the first to finish or getting every answer correct. It is about effort, growth, persistence, and continuing to try even when learning is difficult. Your donation has made it possible to provide meaningful incentives that motivate students to engage more deeply in their learning. For many students, especially those who struggle with confidence or motivation, small rewards can make a big difference. They have reinforced positive behaviors such as completing assignments, participating in class discussions, and persevering through challenging material.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, students are more excited to learn and more willing to challenge themselves academically. I have seen increased effort, improved behavior, and a stronger sense of accomplishment among my students. Most importantly, these incentives have helped create a positive learning environment where students feel recognized and supported.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest surprises for me is the use of the slushy machine. I knew from past experiences of having a slushy machine available, that the students would really enjoy it, but I had no idea how many students (and teachers) would request this incentive. Students can partake in this incentive every Friday and I have had students in other teachers classrooms request a sample of what the students who have earned it, get to experience. Even when the temperature outside the building are frigid and in the teens, the students still request a slushy. Blue, red, or green mouths are walking around the building, so you can easily tell who earned their slushy that week.\r\n\r\nI have been overwhelmed by how a simple incentive can change the mood, the efforts, even the progress of students.
