I am excited to share how my students have been using the new art resources in our classroom! These materials have opened up so many creative opportunities and allowed students to explore and gain confidence and enthusiasm. On way I purposefully made art a part of our current unit we are studying is through their warm ups. In my SS class we are studying Greek Mythology and in conjunction with the students reading the book, The Lightning Thief, I have had students drawing, coloring, and investigating different mythological monsters that they will encounter as they are reading the book. It has really made them more excited because they have been reading ahead and want to get to the part where they meet the monsters they have drawn from Medusa, to Cerberus, to the Minotaur. I've noticed a wonderful increase in student engagement and collaboration. Many are taking more pride in their work and eagerly sharing their art with classmates. The new resources have also helped me introduce lessons that connect art with history, culture, and storytelling, deepening students' appreciation for creativity as a form of communication and self-expression.\r\n\r\nI have continued to use the incentives as well in my day to day classroom procedures while reinforcing expected behaviors Thanks to your support, I've been able to provide students with new resources and motivational rewards that encourage positive behavior, engagement, and creativity. These incentives have helped students stay focused, take pride in their work, and celebrate their achievements—both big and small. For many of my students, these rewards have created a sense of excitement and ownership in their learning. Whether it's earning art supplies for exceptional effort, small prizes for teamwork, or recognition for showing kindness and perseverance, each incentive reminds them that their hard work matters.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has not only helped meet material needs—it has strengthened our classroom community and inspired my students to do their very best. I am deeply grateful for your continued support and belief in the power of education.","fullyFundedDate":1755910660444,"projectUrl":"project/the-art-of-motivation/9550941/","projectTitle":"The Art of Motivation!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Langston","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-langston"},{"teacherId":7138259,"projectId":9552249,"letterContent":"Your contribution to this project is greatly appreciated and not just by me, but by the students, too. I can tell that the books in this grant were a big hit because our check out numbers were sky-high for the first quarter! We checked out in one quarter what we did in more than half of last year! That's a lot of library books being borrowed and loved by our students. \r\n\r\nSome of the popular books specifically are from the One Piece and Diary of a Wimpy Kid series; but other popular books have been \"Drum Roll, Please\" and \"The Prettiest\". Those titles are checked out and a Hold list is waiting for them!\r\n\r\nIt feels good to see kids reading and asking for books! I know that it might not seem \"special\" but it truly is special to see kids race into the library to see the new books! Incentives have become a powerful tool that I use in creating a learning environment that is both engaging and motivating.\r\n\r\nSince introducing incentives, I've noticed that students are more eager to participate in lessons, complete assignments on time, and show positive behavior toward both peers and all of their teachers. The rewards have given my students something tangible to work toward, but more importantly, they have helped in fostering responsibility, perseverance, and teamwork.\r\n\r\nFor many students, especially in middle school, staying motivated can be a challenge. These incentives have provided a sense of excitement and recognition for their hard work, which has boosts their confidence and have helped them see the value in putting forth their best effort. Even small rewards, such as extra classroom privileges, notes of recognition, positive phone calls home, or small prizes, have made a big difference in maintaining a positive classroom culture.\r\n\r\nOverall, these incentives have helped transform my classroom into a place where students not only feel celebrated for their achievements but also inspired to keep striving for success.\r\n\r\nThank you for your support in helping me create a classroom that encourages growth, responsibility, and joy in learning.","fullyFundedDate":1746626312540,"projectUrl":"project/new-year-new-you/9245753/","projectTitle":"New Year New YOU!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Langston","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-langston"},{"teacherId":2345549,"projectId":9294529,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of art supplies to our classroom! Art is so much more than a subject. It's a powerful way for students to explore who they are, understand the world around them, and develop the creativity and confidence they'll carry for a lifetime. Whether it's through painting, drawing, sculpting, or designing, art gives our students a voice—especially those who may not always find one in traditional academic settings.\r\n\r\nOne project I did with my 7th graders was part of a self-portrait unit. With access to quality drawing pencils, paints, markers, mirrors, and sketchbooks, students explored identity through self-portraiture. This project sparked important conversations about self-image, diversity, and confidence. These materials are also being used in my afterschool art club. I have found that art club is more than just an after-school activity. For many of our students, it's a safe and inspiring space where they can truly be themselves. It's where ideas come to life, friendships form, and creativity flourishes without the pressure of grades or expectations. Thanks to you, art club is thriving—and students are not only learning art skills, but also gaining a sense of belonging, purpose, and pride.\r\n\r\nI have seen firsthand how a paintbrush or a pencil can spark a transformation—turning hesitation into pride, frustration into focus, and silence into storytelling. And that happens because of donors like you. I appreciate your generosity and consideration which have directly improved my classroom. From motivating my students to becoming more productive, to reinforcing them to do well on assignments, to simply encouraging them in helping their classmates around them, your generosity made it all possible.\r\n\r\nI have used the incentives just as I described in the project in addition to using them at the end of each week. Every Friday students get the opportunity to use their ROAR bucks (think Monopoly money) to redeem for a prize from the treasure chest. They can save up their ROAR bucks to redeem for bigger prizes and will often combine their ROAR bucks with friends so that each of them can get a prize. I refresh the treasure chest every 3 weeks with the incentives provided through this project and my students are loving being able to have this reward system in my class.\r\n\r\nHaving incentives as a part of my classroom dynamic has become an important part of working with and motivating/encouraging my students. I have even had students who are in upper grades come to my class asking to redeem their ROAR bucks for prizes. Thank you for allowing my students to experience how their hard work can pay off in big rewards.","fullyFundedDate":1733275229673,"projectUrl":"project/every-effort-has-its-own-reward/8914946/","projectTitle":"Every Effort Has Its Own Reward","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Langston","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-langston"},{"teacherId":2345549,"projectId":8405723,"letterContent":"To be able to teach is a gift. In the uncertainty of the time we are currently in, the fact that you see the value in my project is amazing to me. To give my students something as simple as painting, is life changing. To be able to tell them that all they have to do is show up and not to worry if they don't have supplies at home because they will get everything they need through this club, I can not simply thank you enough. I look forward to you seeing some of the masterpieces that my students created. Three of my students most favorite activities so far have been the cat lamps, squishies, and moon night lights. Different students sign up for each art club meeting, but when these were advertised as our next art project, the sign up sheet filled up in less than an hour. We will definitely do these projects next year since they were so popular. I am overwhelmed with how your donation has impacted the students that truly need art as a positive space to be creative, or have a calming moment, or to simply connect with friends. You have given students a sense of normalcy in an ever changing world, and I truly thank you for that.\r\n\r\nI didn't truly realize how popular this club was until I put up the sign up sheet outside my classroom door. I started utilizing a sign up sheet when I started having 40 to 60 students attend the club at one time! That was a few too many students to handle, so the signup sheet allows for the club to have enough resources to last the entire school year. When the sign up sheet goes up, within an hour all 20-25 spots are gone!\r\n\r\nI never expected this much excitement and simple joy from being able to paint with friends. The students have so much fun and I think it is a gift in itself to be able to watch them let loose, be free, and simply paint. They have no restrictions and I think that allows their creative thoughts to flow. Many staff members stop by just to see what they are creating or to encourage them as they create their own masterpieces.
