My Project

I am asking for donations of social/emotional learning books for my special education resource classroom. I service fourth, fifth, and sixth graders with mild-moderate special needs such as learning disabilities, ADHD, and autism. I have observed over the past two years that not only do students with special needs learn in different ways than the "typical" child, but they also process their emotions and experiences differently as well. I hope to be able to foster growth academically in my classroom, but also socially and emotionally. My goal is for my students to one day leave my classroom as all-around improved kiddos, and you can help me with these books!

These books will help my students to connect with characters who may be experiencing similar feelings as them.

It will also help them to process these feelings and know that it is okay to feel them and that they are not alone. Students who have more regulated emotions are able to focus and learn with more ease!
