My Students

My students are a diverse group with various learning styles. They come from different socioeconomic statuses, yet the majority quality for free lunch and are part of the Title 1 program at the school. Many of my students have parents and/ or siblings who have spent time in jail.

In spite of challenges, my students are here and present trying to reverse the cycle of negativity they grew up living.

They interact with students of a much higher socioeconomic status and make friends with many of them. The interaction of students here is very heartwarming. The influence of both these types of students, as well as the different races and ethnicities make our school a culturally enriching experience for all students and teachers.

My Project

The use of whiteboards is essential in English class. Each day the students come to class and must read a "do now" activity written on the board, many of my lectures and class discussions are written on the board. The cleanliness becomes more and more difficult with use.

A glass dry erase board makes the content clearer so students are able to see with precision and I'm able to wipe it clean each time eliminating streaks and stains that come with a typical white board.

This will not only save class instructional time because I'm not going over content with an eraser five times, but more students will be able to see better on a crisp, clean medium.
