This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a low-income school in Miami and our students have fewer opportunities and resources than the more wealthier schools in our area. We work hard to achieve high levels of success with fewer resources.
My students are a great group of hard working, young men who spend a lot of time working on their basketball skills when they're not in the classroom, and I believe that they deserve to have the same opportunities as everyone else.
I would like to get an iPad mini so we can record our games and watch film to better improve our performance as a team as well as individually. Thank you for your consideration.
My Project
My players are in a transitional stage of their young basketball careers. They all have aspects of their game that need improvement. As a coach and former player, I believe it is imperative for an athlete to watch game film in order to visually see where they are messing up so that they can fix it going forward rather than making the same mistakes over and over. Using the tablet to record games and sending it out to the players will allow them to see how they did after each game, as well as allowing us as a team to sit down and have film sessions so we can discuss what we need to improve on.
