Seeing Is Believing: Supplies to Extend the View to Learn

Help me give my students a resource to make viewing maps, notes, and images more accessible through the extension of a TV screen.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am extremely luckily to teach amazing students on my campus. I teach in a Title I school where a large percentage of our students are economically disadvantaged. My students come from all over the city and bring an abundance of cultures and customs to our building and my classroom.

These students are excited about learning and working hard.

Each student's unique personality contributes to the family we have become in our classroom.

My Project

Our school is in an old 1910 hardware warehouse. I love that I teach history in a building full of history, but the structural supports of the building limit the space I can use with students in my classroom. In the middle of my classroom is an 18-inch by 18-inch structural support that keeps my students squished on two-thirds of my classroom so that they may see the board.

By adding a TV screen to my classroom, I can extend the viewing area for notes to fully use my classroom and allow students a little more elbow room.

I move around plenty while teaching so students can see me. I have a large classroom and would love to spread my students out but need them to be able to see what we are looking at and discussing, whether it is notes, examining a primary source or watching a video clip. Adding an additional screen to my classroom will great impact the accessibility of learning to my students.

This project specifically helps to acquire the supplies needed to connect a TV screen to my current smart board.
