My students need the See-Through Sally flip chart and other posters to visualize each system we explore, as well as to see how they all interconnect, starting in week 1 of the course
Do you remember that sense of accomplishment you felt when you started to understand how and why natural phenomena occur? This is what I'm trying to bring to my anatomy and physiology students - the wonder and appreciation that comes from understanding how the human body works. We live in a smaller city, however, so it can be difficult to earmark funds that would allow me to bring the world of A&P alive and literally put it in their hands to explore.
My students are so excited to dive into this new course and I want to make it the most rewarding learning experience possible, so when they look at the human form, it's with eyes that appreciate the beautiful complexity and balance that keeps us alive.
My Project
Anatomy and physiology is best learned through first-hand experiences, seeing and holding whichever structures we're trying to understand. The See-Through Sally flip chart and the anatomical posters will give students another way to view the content, and the flip chart is an interactive way to practice as well.
Within the very first week of school, they'll be able to stand next to the See-Through Sally flip chart in order to practice anatomical positions and orientation vocabulary.
They can use the flip chart to trace the path of the circulatory system or the digestive system. They can overlay different pages to see how the systems interact with each other and are arranged within the body.
This flip chart will aid us through every system we look at, from the first week to the last. The smaller posters will create an atmosphere in the room where the students are surrounded by anatomy, and by creating an authentic and engaging classroom environment, I hope to create authentic and engaging learning experiences.
