My Students

Every week I am fortunate enough to greet 20 wonderful 1st graders as they walk through my door. They are full of personality and charm and it is a pleasure to teach them every day.

My kids are rock stars and they deserve the very best.

They are eager and come prepared to learn each and every day. I want to make sure they have an exceptional school experience that prepares them for the future and develops them into lifelong learners.

My Project

This year I have had an amazing opportunity to work with a seasoned teacher. She has been the best mentor I could've ever asked for. One day I observed her using a tool called The Secret Stories. It is a brain based tool that helps enhance phonics instruction. It was incredible to see her students apply the knowledge they have gained by using Secret Stories.

It is very clear that this brain based approach really helps accelerate students' phonics knowledge.

It gives reasons why some letters can make some crazy sounds. This tool can help students in both reading and writing. The stories are fun and inviting and I have seen students have fun applying their new knowledge. I just know this would be a game changer for my students and I would love the opportunity to try this method with our current phonics program.
