Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are back in school for our second semester, and we have some exciting units ahead of us! First, students will learn about materials chemistry where they will explore bonding, intermolecular forces, and polymers to be able to analyze a futuristic material and explain how it works! Students will then move into a unit all about cars and chemical reactions, and they will have the opportunity to consider local environmental justice issues.

In order to succeed, students need certain supplies and resources to benefit their learning.

Our classroom is cold, and tower heaters will warm the space up and help students focus instead of shiver. This project also funds materials for labs that will help bring the chemistry concepts to life. For our materials unit, students will learn about polymers by creating bouncy balls using glue and slime activator. They will learn about polarity and intermolecular forces through a food color lab, which will require plastic plates to hold the liquids. Finally, I need to restock the classroom with basics such as pencils and glue sticks so that students have what they need to take notes and glue observations into their science notebooks. Granola bars will keep students' bellies full. The materials in this project span a range of student needs, but all will contribute to a vibrant learning space!
